What is Prayer?
Prayer helps you gain an understanding of the Most High God's loving nature. Because prayer is one of the main ways you develop a connection with YHWH (God). In prayer, you're talking with Him, not just to Him. 

Praying the Scriptures
What is praying scripture? Praying scripture is simply taking a passage, verse, or concept in scripture and using it for specific prayers for your life or community. Instead of forming a prayer from your own heart and mind, you'd pray what's already written in the word.
